The carboard outer box is lined with wool, a by product of sheep farming and an excellent insulator when combined with ice and our recyclable wood wool. This packaging has been comprehensively tested, and will keep your order nice and chilled as it wings its way to you.

We are on a mission to reduce the use of plastic. Right now we are testing new ways to ensure that all of the fresh, cut to order meat can be supplied in a more sustainable way. It is our key focus to ensure that the packaging we supply can be recycled, reused, or returned.

Your order will arrive in a cool box, complete with ice packs, inside a cardboard box. Our biggest concern when shipping your order is ensuring it arrives safe and sound. We use tried and tested packaging that has been comprehensively tested to ensure your order arrives cool, ready for cooking or popping in the freezer.

All of our meat is cut fresh and packed to order at our hub in Ripon, just for you.

When you receive your order from Farmison & Co, it will arrive in one of our cardboard boxes, which is made from recycled cardboard and is 100% biodegradable. Once you open your meat box you will find a cool box made out of moulded foam, these are extremely versatile and have a multitude of usages.

All of the boxes we send out need to maintain a food safe chilled temperature, to do this you will receive ice packs within your meat box. These are totally food safe and again have a multitude of usages as detailed below. To dispose, simply drain the liquid into the bin, and pop the plastic into recycling.

We vacuum pack almost everything we supply, this keeps the dry aged meat perfect and allows for the maximum life to the product. You will love it because it allows you to use just what you need and leave the rest for another day. It's also great for allowing you to freeze a specific cut for later on.

On the outside of every packet which you receive, you will also find details of the product, the use by date and any allergens. Full details of all the ingredients and allergens can be found on our website on the specific product pages.

wool cool (eco packaging only)

This is felted sheep's wool which is washed, scoured then sealed within recyclable polyethylene wrap. Wool is a by product of the sheep industry, and wool packaging is a fantastic way of reducing waste. The wool liner can be reused, disposed of, or composted, with the wool releasing valuable nutrients back into soil.

Cardboard Boxes

All of the cardboard boxes that we have to use to send your order are biodegradable, and 100% recyclable. Our boxes are made from a material that is:

Once you have finished using your box it can be recycled or composted.

Ice Cells

The ice cells we use are the strongest, purest, cleanest and safest Ice Packs available. The unique gel formula ensures they stay frozen for much longer using an FSA & FDA approved non-toxic polymer that is completely food safe. The gel is mixed using highly purified water that has been through a 6 stage filtration process and UV sterilisation.

We suggest you keep them in your freezer, they are perfect for keeping things cold when you have a picnic or a bbq.

If you wish to safely dispose of them, simply cut open with a pair of scissors and put the liquid inside into general waste. The other packaging can go into the recycling bin.

Cool Boxes

Our cool boxes are made of moulded foam. These are 100% recyclable, and are 98% air. Once compressed down, these boxes are the size and depth of a sheet of A4 paper. You can check with your local Council if they accept polystyrene for collection or go to eps.co.uk for a list of recycling centres and more information about the material used.

The boxes can be reused at home in a variety of ways. You can use them for cool boxes, planters for seedlings, and even insulation.

Trays

We are delighted to be moving the trays which we use to pack our products, to ones which are fully sustainable. Our trays, which we use, are new to the market and are widely recyclable. They use 100% recycled material in their production and can be recycled over and over again, what is known as a circular product. Their natural colour tones are derived from the 100% recycled materials they produced from. This also means they are perfect for detection and mechanically sorting. Simply wash them our once used and pop them in your recycling bin.

Jars

All of the jars which we supply are wrapped in a protective bubble wrap for protection during transport. The jars and metal lids are all suitable recycling or reusing around the home, simply give them a rinse out once empty.

Vacuum Pac Bags

We are delighted to say that there are some great advances emerging within this area of food packaging. Our primary lookout is always to ensure that all our of the meat we supply is food safe and reaches you in perfect tip-top condition, whilst achieving an optimum best before date. We are continually testing new materials and hope to be using vacuum bags across our range which can be recycled very shortly.

Wood wool

If your order arrives in one of our cool boxes, we will add additional insulation through the use of wood wool. This is an eco friendly product and is completely biodegradable.
