Scottish Blackface
Distinctive Sheep from the Scottish Borders
Why this breed
The Scottish Blackface is a champion breed throughout the UK, naturally reared, it symbolises the purity and goodness of the land and has a reputation for its unrivalled sweet flavour and tenderness. All Blackfaces are horned, with black or black and white face and legs. One of Scotland's oldest breeds, over centuries it has adapted itself to a self-sufficient life in hefted flocks on the hill. Ours are reared on the upland pasture of Yorkshire, where they graze freely on herbs, grasses, and berries. Here, they mature slowly, at their own pace, producing meat with that's sweet and herbal in taste.
