Introduction
Lemonade on warm summers day. There is nothing more refreshing.Method
- Carefully remove the skin from the lemons using a potato peeler, leaving only the zest.
- If there is any white pith remaining, remove this as it will make the lemonade bitter.
- Add sugar to a heavy bottom based pan followed by 500mls of the water and dissolve on a low heat.
- Squeeze the juice from the lemons into the pan and add the lemon zest and remaining 500mls of water.
- Bring to the boil and immediately turn off heat. Allow to cool.
- Pass through a sieve and place in fridge until chilled.
- Serve with ice.
Gaynor's Tip: You may find that a little more sugar is needed to suit a child's palate. This lemonade can be frozen into ice cubes to add to the finished drink or simply to water.
