British Fish

Dover sole is a long, slipper-shaped flatfish with a small head, light-brown mottled skin and a creamy underside.

The meat is firm but delicate and flavourful with a meaty texture. It’s traditionally skinned on the darker side only, leaving the white skin of the underside in place.

Best pan fried with butter and seasoning and finished off with a light squeeze of lemon.

Due to the nature of fresh fish deliveries, we have very limited stock on Mondays and would recommend ordering for Tuesday - Sunday deliveries.

If you wold like us to skin and fillet it for you, please write that in the Order Notes section on the basket.

Farmison & Co ONLY works with MSC accredited suppliers. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Cooking instructions

To cook Dover sole, heat a large frying pan over a medium heat with a splash of oil or a knob of butter. Season the fish with salt and pepper, then cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on size, until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon and serve with buttery new potatoes, seasonal vegetables, or a simple salad for a delicate and flavourful meal.
